Lesson 37 – Dative

What Is the Dative Case?

The dative case is used:

  2. To express how someone feels.
    • Jest mi zimno.ย โ€“ I feel cold.
  3. To indicate the person youโ€™re speaking to.
    • Mรณwiฤ™ lekarzowi, co mnie boli.ย โ€“ I tell the doctor what hurts.

When to Use the Dative Case

Youโ€™ll use the dative case:

  1. When giving something to someone:
    • Kupujฤ™ prezent mojej mamie.ย โ€“ I buy a present for my mom.
    • Dajฤ™ lekarstwo dziecku.ย โ€“ I give medicine to the child.
  2. When saying something to someone:
